its a microcontroller based automatic parking system ,using receivers , sensors and displays. usually ,in large parking areas we need to search through the whole place for space and then park.our project aims to overcome this trouble.we want that some sensors should be placed atspace for each car.these sensors will be connected to LCDs at the parking entrance via microcontroller.the display wud show whether or not space is there for more cars, and if there is any, what the exact loction of that space is.this wud be carried out by programming the microcontroller. i need to know wat kind of sensors should be used, which will detect that a car has been parked at say place "n",sends signal to LCD n LCD indicates that say location"n+1" is free available for parking. plz plz help me out wid this..hope u have grasped the idea. kindly tell me about the sensors to be used at the parking space, n how to interface them with the display.

  

hi lubna i find your project very intresting, i think i can do something i was also thinking of this can u please mail me the idea bcoz ther would be many problems you have to encounter. what type of sensors you will be using. ok mail me hen ill see what can i do . byeeeeeee khuda hafiz

Hi, Very good concept,that is.But a one by one monitoring of the parking lot will be impossible, right?. Coz u will be requiring lot many sensors,one for each car parking position. Proximity sensors, IR detectors etc .. i don't think they will help you.. The best way to do it would be image processing .Distungishing the Background among the parked cars can be done using image processing. With regards, Ajeesh

To Ajeesh, thnx for your reply. i know u r thinking in the right direction that connecting so many sensors would be impossible, but we can work this out with say a parking space for 10 cars., for the sake of a project model. secondly, u talked about image processing. well, we are not studying image processing as a subject, n to employ this method, we need to cover the whole of image processing for this part of the project...this is like combining two major projects. Also, there are some student groups here in university who are designing video authentication system, target tracking system all based on and typically related to image processing. so we need another alternative, that is hardware, and not software. we will use software for interfacing and controlling the process through microcontroler. see if u can help me out. thanx
