The project aims to develop a system in which a user has control over the electrical appliances using the Blue tooth enabled mobile phone. The electrical appliances are interfaced with the parallel port of the computer system. As a result it provides wireless control over the electrical devices such that the user can send signals via Bluetooth. A Visual C++ program is made to create a Graphical User Interface with button controls to switch the devices ON/OFF. The user uses the bluetooth enabled mobile phone to control the cursor of the computer and on the click of the button the signal is sent to drive the PCB on the parallel port. An AVR microcontroller is used to control the electrical appliances and is programmed using AVRStudio 4.0. This microcontroller has the main advantage of being reprogrammable in nature. We have designed the circuit for controlling LEDs and it can be extended to electrical devices by adding a relay in the circuit to act as a switch.
