The speed of motor is monitored continuously using microprocessor 8085 & PIO 8255 based system with greater accuracy and precision. Using microprocessor pulses of different time period can be generated. These pulses are fed to chopper circuit (Mosfet) whose duty cycle determine the average voltage across the motor armature. The duty cycle of the chopper is determined by width of the pulse. These pulses are fed to a buffer and isolation circuit. Thus the dc motor speed can be controlled by controlling the average voltage the armature
